First Annual Casco Bay Cyclocross Race
Portland, ME
10/17/2009

ImageWhat a great event the first annual Casco Bay Cyclocross race was! As a Junior member of Team BIKEMAN.COM, I really enjoyed the course laid out by Al Starrett of Bikeman.com, which was for me more difficult, technical, fun (and drier) than the course at the Gran Prix of Gloucester two weeks ago.

ImageI am a Maine resident but still enjoy the sight of the ocean and the view of Casco Bay from the Eastern Prom in Portland was fantastic. During the race, my eyes and attention were completely on the course which had plenty of technical as well as places where I could ramp up my speed. The spectator venue was great and for a first time event, there seemed to be a good turnout.

I took third in the Jr Cat 3 (15-18), and hope to improve next weekend at Pineland.

ImageA lot of thanks to Al, Darcy and Bikeman.com as lead sponsors, and to Casco Bay Sports for putting the race on.  I highly recommend the race to any cyclocross racer, amateurs included.

Ian
