26th Annual Dia De Los Muertos Exhibit Folk Tree Pasadena, CA October 10, 2009
October 10, 2009 was the 26th Annual Dia De Los Muertos Exhibit at the Folk Tree in Pasadena, CA. This small Latin Themed Art Gallery and Community Center offered a reception for Eastside Bike Club and their bicycle themed "Altars". My wife and her students have enjoyed these displays over the years, so I was delighted to hear a subject near to my heart. The days schedule would be manageable. Two cross races in San Dimas, the Altar Exhibit in Pasadena and plenty of time to make it home before dark. The Eastside Bike Club had a number of warm and inviting members to help describe the "Other-Worldly" moving bicycle themed Altars and decorated bicycles. I talked all kinds of bike trash. Enjoyed my time immensely. I hope you can understand the cultural imperative to create an alter to allow the departed to come back and see how you are doing and see how well you have remembered what was important to them while they were here.
