SoCal Cross Prestige Series #6
Long Beach Cyclocross
El Dorado Regional Park
Long Beach, CA

October 18th, 2009

ImageSouthern California Prestige Series of Cyclocross Race Number Six. Sunday October 18, 2009 at El Dorado Regional Park in Long Beach, CA. Another close venue with a large turnout and cool temperatures. I had only enough energy for one race. The Master Men 55+ proved to me again an elusive, slippery, seriously fast group of competitors. I hung on as best I could through the mixture of pavement sections, mulch garden, stair section, the sandpit, bumpy gofer lawns and a labyrinth of tight twisting turns. The outcome was pretty much as expected. The surprise was my youngest daughter showing up to experience her first chance to ring a cow bell and throw insults at her struggling father. Lunch afterwards was well deserved.
