| | Matt Hersey: Mountain Bike, Cyclocross
2008 RACING AGE: 36 – Geez, really?
RESIDENCE: Maine is my home. However, I am currently living and working in our rival state of Massachusetts. Sometime soon I hope to settle down somewhere.
WHERE I GO MONDAY MORNING: Children’s Hospital Boston, currently. I am a psychiatric nurse and I’ve been doing the travel nurse thing for the last year or so.
RACING DISCIPLINE(S) AND CATEGORY(S): Expert mountain bike, some enduro stuff, cross.
# OF YEARS RACING: 17
# OF BIKES OWNED: 4 - Salsa cross bike, Trek road bike, Fisher Rig, and Fisher Sugar. Plus a Mamasita frame that I’ve never actually seen that is sitting in Al’s basement in a box – just waiting.
FAVORITE BIKE: Salsa las cruces with the sweet Challenge tubulars.
FAVORITE TRAIL OR RIDE: Any dry autumn day in New England at a cross race. And memories of doing the inaugural Trans-Rockies race up in Canada. Or the stuff in Bar Harbor – Park Loop Road or the Carriage Paths.
NON-CYCLING INTERESTS/HOBBIES: Travel, food, cooking, music, movies, running, xc skiing.
PERSONAL NOTES & QUOTES: Despite all of the broken bones, cycling has been very good to me. It has taken me to lots of places that I wouldn’t have otherwise seen and introduced me to lots of friends that I otherwise wouldn’t have met.
