 | | Mmmmoooooooo! | Man, it's been hotter than the business side of a clydesdale's chamois. Damn! Beats freezing, but, last week I was riding with arm and knee warmers this weekend it was freaking 85+ degrees! Like I said, it beats being cold.
Got a nice Memorial Day Weekend of road riding in both Saturday and Sunday and then Monday I got two hours of single track in on the Dos Niner.
Some trails were still a bit slick in spots from last week's heavy rains, but for the most part they were pretty cool. As I entered one of my favorite trails there was a big ass 4 foot black snake laying on it. UG! I IMMEDIATELY did a U-Turn and got the heck out. Too tight to go around and as you may or may not know I HHHHHHHHHHATE snakes. The mere sighting stuck with me for a few miles, even just a black snake.
The stem adjustment I made to the Dos Niner is working great. (I dropped it about .5" - .75" by removing some spacers) Makes a HUGE difference. The front end is WAY more easy to control on steep climbs and I in NO way feel like I'm a freak bike of any sort. Just rolling fast and smooth.
The Maxxis Ignitor 29ers did cake up pretty good on the muddier trails and sent me down once as I leaned into a turn like I was on my road bike. See what kind of nasty habits you can pick up by road riding!
Nice little 3 day streak of rides (2 road 1 mountain). The rest of the week will have 1 easy and 1 tempo ride before The Mohican 100 this coming Saturday.
 | | Nice long up hill. Great Western PA road work in front. | I got some time to get my new Shimano 540 pedals on the Dos Niner, I finally had to say goodbye to the '98 Shimano 747s that were on it. Took some picts on this weekend's road rides. Here's a peek...
Hope you all had a great holiday weekend, look for a race report next week.
Later.
Jason
