The all-new Carver AXC Disc Brake Carbon Clincher Wheelset fills a gap that was in our previous wheel lineup. If you want more volume than the “road” oriented RXC for heavy gravel adventure but don’t want to lose the ability to still get kinda skinny then the AXC is for you.
The “A” in AXC stands for all-road and it’s the Goldilocks of our wheel lineup, it covers the widest range of tire sizes yet still has the same volume as our full gravel wheelset the GXC. If you spend some time on pavement but don’t need to go super skinny you can run a tire down to 28mm and up to 95psi. On the other end of the spectrum, if you like to get a little rowdy with your gravel ride you can run up to a 60mm tire. That is if you can fit a 2.3” tire in your bike for full send.
We stuck with Novatec hubs for their proven performance and value but switched to a Center Lock disc version for quicker rotor changes. Tried and true J-bend bladed black spokes with external black alloy nipples allow for easy maintenance in the field. 24 hole laced 2 cross front and rear.
The AXC rim only adds 20g per set over the RXC but you gain 3mm in width. It’s still a whopping 260g lighter than the old c38 Disc Brake Clincher, that's over 1/2 pound in old money. 29mm depth, 31mm external width, 24mm internal width, hooked bead and finished in matte UD. They are tubeless compatible and ship with tubeless tape, tubeless valves and even a couple spare spokes.
