Back in California, after an insufferable summer, the fall season provided a glimps into cyclocross weather. The number three and four in our race season was in Ventura County. Lake Casitas is a delightful regional park. I’ve reported events back twenty years. This year was among the best in weather and enthusiasm. The course tape, barriers and start grid were set for the multi-wave 9:40 start. 55+, 65+, 70+, 35+ B, and womens 35, 45+ all on course. Course designer worked all the elements: fast flat start, multiple stairs/barriers, soft, mulchy turns, long sketchy descents, working the hilly terrain, giving small recovery amidst the pace. Unfortunately, I recorded the event, but did not race.
